Disseminating content today can be a difficult task for many brands. One might think that social networks offer numerous opportunities to open channels of communication with their audience and this is true. However, the effort involved in making yourself heard with so many competing voices can be counterproductive because finding your target audience, attracting their attention and convincing them to respond can feel like "mission impossible."

However, sometimes online content appears that unwittingly (or not) goes viral and races through the internet like wildfire, receiving millions of hits and significantly strengthening a brand. The trouble is that there is no perfect formula to get content to go viral. The only real solution is to try to connect to a select group of people so effectively that they want to share your content and therefore your brand. What follows are 11 effective ways to achieve this:

1. Create good content


This is the first step in getting users to forward your message to others. If you create content that is of interest to the public and which has value and usefulness to consumers and the people they know, you increase the probability that they will share it. People only share those things that they think will benefit and/or entertain their contacts.

2. Include users in your content


Mentioning consumers makes them feel valued as part of a community and a project; they become reluctant to delete its contents and may even get around to reading it. Making your audience part of your tags, posts or comments on social networks can be a starting point from which to attract your target audience’s attention.

3. Offer them exclusive benefits


Marketing technologies offer programs to detect and measure data regarding who is sharing your content. Invest in them and offer benefits to those people who share your content, rewarding their efforts as a way of thanks.

4. Make users proud to be associated with your brand


Encourage the audience to share their experiences, abilities or achievements related to your brand which make them feel valued and heard. Consumers will be more apt to share those things that make them feel proud and, as a consequence, will spread awareness of your brand.

5. Use marketing techniques that engage users


Consumers typically buy once and never come back to your website. To avoid this, use email marketing strategies or advertising remarketing as a way to attract users back to your site. Adding social network buttons and hotlinks in the content are also good ideas to simplify the user experience.

6. Make sharing easy with buttons


Creating good content or an interesting video is just the beginning of your efforts to cause the user to take action, but it’s not enough. If people have difficulty figuring out how to share content, or have to go through too many steps to do so, they won’t.. Make it easy by placing buttons for social networks where users can easily see them in your posts or articles. And don’t forget e-mail, people still rely on it heavily in sharing content.

7. Prioritize useful content


Useful, entertaining and educational. These are the three key characteristics for making content attractive to your audience and which motivate them to share it. Do not try to sell your product directly; your are better off sharing valuable content.

8. Classify your audience


Mentioning a group specifically in social networking is a way to address the public and encourage them to see your content as speaking to them personally. You can use your search tools to find consumers who are looking for your product or service. Once identified, contact them and offer them content.

9. A decent helping of fun


Good content which is also fun is twice as good. The truth is that entertainment and fun can make your content stand out over your competition and thereby attract consumers to your brand. If in addition to providing a good time, the content is good, sharing is virtually assured.

10. Connect with influencers


Influencers are a must in any social marketing strategy. They are the kingmakers of the digital world and can turn your results around, making your brand a success in no time. Of course, picking the right ones is the key.

11. Use headlines which attract attention


There is no point having relevant and interesting content if its title doesn’t attract viewers. It is critical that the first words the consumer sees causes him to click immediately. What is it that your content will do for the consumer? Tell him.
